We are delighted to announce the launch of House Soup Retreats. Taking place in the heart of Provence from this spring in conjunction with luxury boutique hotel Maison Salix, this will be a true celebration of slow living and creativity. Join food and hosting connoisseur Anna Barnett, Maison Salix’s interiors mastermind Hugues Delvaux, and acclaimed dancer and yoga instructor Renee Stewart for the very first in our series of meaningful and immersive experiences in the charming village of Vallabrègues.
Taking place in the first of the May bank holidays, we will celebrate spring in all its glory. As the lavender fields begin to blossom, the olive groves ripen, and the hilltop villages come to life; we will be sharing some of the very best of what the region has to offer.
Our intimate retreat centres around living more purposefully, reconnecting with nature whilst exploring the essence of French produce and local crafts and embracing Provence's abundant natural beauty. You will be slowing down in the most luxurious of environments whilst taking time out to appreciate a more meaningful pace of life.
Days will begin with Renee guiding morning meditations to tune in, followed by yoga and breath work journey to rejuvenate and ground our system before we start our leisurely breakfasts in the lavish walled garden of Maison Salix.
Our thoughtfully curated programme will explore the region’s rich and diverse bounty of local produce from the famed provincial terroir which makes the produce oh so special. We will peruse the markets for the freshest ingredients ahead of spending an afternoon honing our culinary skills by both cooking and dining together.
You can also expect to stop at one of the many brocantes if antiques are your thing. We will be hosting classes centred around traditional local crafts such as basket weaving, natural pottery making and that is before we get to the freshwater swimming. The historic ancient Roman aqueduct of Provence will provide the backdrop for swimming, relaxation and picnicking, offering you the chance to reconnect with nature, take time out and reset (with or without a glass or two of the local wine).
Wellbeing, moderation (in moderation), calmness, and community will all be at the heart of our retreats where we will aim to bring an intimate group of like-minded guests together to embrace all that is deliciously inspiring in Provence.
Maison Salix will be your home during your stay. It makes for the most inspiring abode where attention to detail, design and luxurious comfort is at the heart of this 600-year-old restored Manor House. Its grandeur and minimalist design-led aesthetic will ensure your every need is met. The expanse of Maison Salix means that quiet moments can also be enjoyed away from the group.
Each room is uniquely designed with wildly high ceilings, roll-top baths, and the most indulgent products.
Beyond the ancient walls of Maison Salix lies the sleepy village of Vallabrègues. Uniquely located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but in the midst of the "golden triangle" of Arles, Avignon and Nîmes, it is picture perfect.
This artfully crafted retreat will aim to visually inspire, teach and enrich those who embark on it. Sharing our creative aesthetic, approach to produce and how and where you serve it will play a huge role in immersing you into this thoughtfully curated, visually exciting experience.
Places are limited, rooms are based on two people sharing. Additional nights either side of the retreat can be accommodated.
Rooms and suites are available on a double occupancy basis best served for partners and friends happy to share. An option for solo occupancy for each room and suite will be available.
More than just a boutique hotel, Maison Salix is a slow resort that will inspire you re-energise and reconnect with yourself and others. An oasis of peace and tranquillity in Vallabregues, the hotel provides the perfect jumping off point to visit some of the most iconic villages and towns in Provence.
